Graphic Novel Project Reflection
In this project we read the book Brave New World and created graphic novels with a partner. We got to choose one scene from the entire book to make our graphic novel about. One partner was the artist and the other was the author. The artist took on drawing the the whole scene in graphic novel form, using all five of the required choices. The author wrote about the scene and the theme that they believed Aldous Huxley was critiquing. Together we made a beautiful graphic novel we are proud to present.
I believe that with this project I learned how to really work well in a team and not go crazy and feel that I would like to forever work individually. I have never been very good with teamwork, but in this project I had a partner I surprising worked well with. I felt that I could share my perspective and be equally heard. We let our ideas mesh and ended up creating beautiful work. Also in this project I feel that my artist skills approved. Facial expressions are not my specialty, but because I knew that I would have to present this to people from our community. I wanted people to understand what the characters were feeling without me telling them and facial expressions were very important. For our next project there a few things that I would like to improve on. We did socratic seminars in this project when we were reading Brave New World and one goal I have for the next project is to speak more in socratic seminars. Speaking up is very difficult for me, but I feel that if I could gain the confidence and speak more during socratic seminars, I could get a better perspective and a deeper connection with the project.
